Did you know? The term "saber" is used to depict a type of sword that has a curved blade. Dogs with a saber tail therefore are characterized by a tail that is carried in a semi-circle. According to the American Kennel Club, in the German shepherd breed, at rest, the tail hangs in a slight curve like a saber. When excited or in motion, the tail is raised and the curve is accentuated.
