Did you know? Dogs are digitigradres and one big perk of dogs being digitigrade is that walking on the toes allows dogs to move around more quietly and attain faster speeds, explains Theresa A Fuess, a veterinarian working for Veterinarian at Lakehills Animal Health https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digitigrade#/media/File:WolfSkelLyd1.png
Digitigrade - Wikipedia
A digitigrade (/ˈdɪdʒɪtɪˌɡreɪd/) is an animal that stands or walks on its digits, or toes. Digitigrades include walking birds (what many assume to be bird knees are actually ankles), cats, dogs, and many other mammals, but not plantigrades or unguligrades. Digitigrades generally move more quickly and quietly than other animals.
